OK, subwoofer box updates...

Bracing (glued in place, then fiberglassed in). Drilled out for weight reduction and more airspace, but should still add considerable strength!).

Put on the front and tested the fitment...took some adjustment, but it all fit nicely. woot! I drilled a notch in the side to be able to pry out the sub. Flush mounting makes it tough otherwise when you go tight. Total box, without the sub, is about 6.5 lbs. Not bad!

Made a grill so that the carpet doesn't cave in, but sub can breath well. Also, plasti-dip painted the sub facing. Will do the same to the grill.

Sub in, carpet back. Without, and with, grill.

Amp wiring didn't go as well as I wanted, but it works. Right to the DC-DC converter. I wish I had the right terminal to not have it stick out the way it does and possibly not having to have cut the boot, but it works either way.

And the ground to the same grounding point as the DC-DC converter. sanded off the paint and nolox'd.

The new deck. A Kenwood "mech-less" (AKA no CD player or anything, just digital audio through USB, bluetooth, auxilery, and various radios). Clean fitment on this beast and it isn't as deep (like 2" less than a CD player) so plenty of room behind.

And finally, one thing this deck offers is front outputs with active crossovers. So, I threw these tweets on the dash (I bought a box of 200 of these things for $10 from Parts-Express once... so... might as well use em! lol). Just wired up and laying there. They don't move, since the wiring is tight in there. Really brought up the sound stage.

From there, I threw in my audio tuning setup. Mic by the passenger headrest and experimented with crossover points and slopes, levels, EQ, phase, etc. until I got a desired frequency response. It could use more tuning and such, but since I'll be changing things out in the future anyways, it's good enough for now. What's perfect is, this type of response slope is excellent for movie watching, so we took it to the drive-in movie theater last night and watched Jungle Book.. it was surprisingly well (both the audio and the movie, lol)

So, that is near conclusion of phase 1... you don't see the amp yet because I'm borrowing one from a friend. Once mine comes in (next weekend), there will be an update with that install.
