I read on Insight Central (can't remember what thread) that you should not switch out the OEM 250 watt 2 filament brake light bulb to a lower watt LED bulb because the IMA system (assist and regen) uses the brake light coming on as one of the parameters to turn assist and regen on and off and without this 250 watt signal it can effect the operation of the IMA system.

I converted all other lights (including headlights) to the lower watt LEDs on my Insight, but I kept the brake lights OEM based on this information. Don't know for sure, but this may be part of your problem.

Also, as an early adapter to LED bulbs, I have always had trouble with LED bulbs that tried to replace any OEM 250 watt 2 filament (brake light) type bulbs.
