From my observation, changing from 10W30 to 5W30 feels the difference. Some people recommend using 0W30 synthetic oil, but usually won't feel the difference on mpg. The benefit is changing every 10K miles rather than 5K miles.

Is the oil too thin in the summer heat to lubricate the engine properly? I'm just wondering if it's worth the switch.
