Around here you can have a problem with chipmunks and deer mice climbing up into the engine compartment, chewing wiring, storing nuts, and building nests in cars that aren't driven much. My brother in Raleigh, NC had chipmunks chew wiring in his Toyota pickup, in the previous place I lived, deer mice would build nests inside the blower wheel of the vent system. Honda sells a "rodent tape" laced with capsaicin that you can wrap your wires with. Of course, having a good population of "farm cats" around helps too.
