I drove w/o hybrid function for the first 8 months I had the car. Things went okay. The car still gets incredible (compared to "normal" vehicles) mileage. I mean yeah you gotta downshift... but it's no biggie, just DFCO down the other side of the hill.

I have an okay battery now, and I still downshift on certain hills.
