I am upgrading my Sturmey-Archer internal 3-speed hub by fitting two gears from a freewheel 13T and 16T to give a six speed set up with a 44T chain ring. Some work with the die grinder and a spacer for the narrower chain so all fit on the hub . A short derailleur and shifter work with the 3 spd lever. The key is to use gears that are 3 teeth apart.
