They're for heat rejection.
On hot summer days I've heard the engine fan churning away,indicating that the thermal coupling is engaged.Not good!
The temp gauge never indicated a heating problem,but if the fan is being driven by the engine,at 40-mph plus,it suggests that I've compromised the cooling.
With these hood vents,that problem goes away.They will require ducting and integration into the new blister extensions.
