the 16v 1.6 is a thirstier engine. but I wonder if it's just because the 1.6 seems to use the same air filter. (aka needs intake mods)
the 1.5 16v breaks valves if the cam belt breaks, but is very economic.
1.5 8V doesn't brake due to the piston being shaped for valves
and the 1.6 16V has enough clearance so the valves don't break.
