Mercedes Benz M111 engine (2.0l) data thread

This is a thread for data on the M111 series of gasoline engines by Mercedes Benz, variants have been around since the 80s and production lasted into the 2000's. Sevaral non MB vehicles (Ssanyong Musso anyone?) also use this engine.

My particular unit is the 2.0l non-Kompressor (Europe only) version, but I expect the other non-kompressor M111 units to be similar.

I'm hoping to populate this with as much info as I can. I have an MPGuino and so will be testing various things (like DFCO vs coast etc).

BSFC, Torque, Power:

I have not been able to get started on BSFC maps etc yet - but have seen the torque / power curves data for the engine (I will try to turn up the map froma German website).

If driving using the "foot-down 70%" approach to accelerating to a cruising speed, the sweet-spot for changing up is 2700rpm. The powerband seeming (from my butt-o-meter) to be 2200rpm to 4000rpm.

DFCO function

I have found a little more about DFCO settings by fitting an MPGuino.

It seems that the engine will only stay in DFCO until 1600rpm, which is pretty poor, and needs to really be above 2000rpm to trigger it.

How much fuel is injected below 1600rpm I'm not sure - I suspect the idle amount - will need to check on the MPGuino.

Open/Closed Loop Operation

I hope to be able to see on the MPGuino the relationship between the amount of fuel injected at various throttle loads, to get an idea of when the engine goes into open-loop operation.
