Just bought a 2008 Nissan Altima 2.5s CVT

I'm new to CVT not sure if I missed it but what was the best way to accelerate in "D" for city driving. Also have you found an optimal cruising speed for highway driving. Besides highest speed at lowest rpm. Any quarks unique to this car I should prepare myself for? Lastly do you think the cars mpg gauge is accurate? I never really figured out how to fully set up my scanguge 2.
