Regarding wipers, I remember certain Mercedes models used (still do?) used a single arm design, but it had a cam sort of deal that made it extend/retract as it went around its sweep, so it would reach further into the corners. Or was that a cable drive design? My ignorance is presenting itself.

That Mercedes used a cool mechanical design to do that in-out sweep. We need two wipers on a big truck per the feds.
