The Dodge-PPG M4S Pace Car: Restored
It's a very interesting car.
- It was in the movie before it paced the Indy 500
- It wasn't in the movie, those were VW-powered replicas
- It's got the little roll-down windows because the passenger's job is to wave at the crowd
- Gene Winfield built the 6 replicas
- It never made the 200mph goal, topping out at 194.8mph
- The active, Daytona style wing never was completed
An early example of a twin turbo four for power, and an external ducted wing, like the GTI W12-650 or the new Ford GT.
The Wraith II kit car never got off the ground.
