A conversion for $3k wouldnt buy you much, just a brushed DC motor and a controller, no batteries. Whilt 60K is expensive, it has Li-Ion batteries and a 150 kW AC motor / inverter of his own design The batteruier will last a good lnog time, but I doubt they will last over 100K, but who knows. Toyota said that the battery in the RAV 4 EV would only last 50K miles, but at 100l they are going strong from what I can gather.
