Alex, I also have a commonrail turbodiesel in my Peugeot 307, and I cut not the cam, but the crankshaft sensor. I seem to remember that cutting the signal from the cam sensor would not kill the engine, or would add some other unneeded complications, and that is why I had to try my luck with the crankshaft sensor.

In the case of my HDi, cutting the crankshaft position sensor kills the engine without reseting the ECU, but I do get a message about oil pressure being too low.
It logs an error code, but the engine can still be bump- or key-started. The error code can later be deleted with an OBD tool.
