There are a number of people who use de-studded tyres over the summer, I have never heard anything about rain (as long as you have the wheels on in the correct direction), however there is alot about the braking distance being longer.

I doubt that it would make much difference seeing as in Finland you will be able to count the number of summer days on one hand :P

Retreads are great for trucks and other industrial machines, but I've never really liked them for cars, I had a set that came with some alloys and they were awful in the rain and felt like I was driving in mud the rest of the time. It is really quite difficult to find car retread tyres now what with new budget tyres being the same price.
