One thing that hasn't been talked about is how the stock rear beetle fenders scoop air, that causes rear lift at relatively slow speeds for race cars. I bring this up as you can see that those salt flat racers didn't drill their fenders. Where as I've seen dozens of race cars that had drilled them. (there's a nice write up on theSamba) Samba didn't define whether skirts helped this problem or not. I wonder if drilling them would help for our MPG goals?
