What vehicle? GM purposely sets their speedometers to read 2 mph slow (just to save you from tickets). The SG reads what the WHEEL is actually reporting to the ECU, so it's the SPEEDO circuitry that's subtracting 2 mph...hence the two different readings.
FWIW, a 5 mph difference would seem to indicate wrong tyre size (vs OEM).
