If one is considering extending the bonnet teo concearns come to my mind,
1st, that is where the passanger compartment gets its air, it is a higher pressure zone (from what i read on ecomodder) and extending it you may create a venturi effect sucking air out of the cabin, or your cabin fan may need to work extra hard for ventilation.
2nd, the gap has been designed specially, in case your front latch fails and the bonnet pops up while driving, you can still see through the gap. If you block it then you could lose all sight of the road ahead. (In my years of driving this has happened to me once and i was able to see the road, stupidity on my part, but still should be taken in to account.)
