Fortunately, Utah is fairly welcoming to "green" vehicles. I think part of it has to do with the air quality going to crap in the valleys during the winter. Hopefully if any sort of EV tax is imposed, it'll be like the proposed bill in Wisconsin that exempts any EV that can also use gas.
As far as energy costs vs the Prius, it'll mostly depend on how much EV driving we can do. I didn't buy the Volt to save money, it was mostly to fulfil my lust for an EV.
