Star and Wye are the same. I know the nominal voltage in the US is 120, but we were always told to calculate for 110 in an industrial situation. The 60 Hz coils never lasted long on 50 Hz.
In the UK we have sub stations in a local, supplied by HV on underground cables. It is then stepped down to 3 phase and the houses are supplied with single phase on a balanced network street by street.
