I'm simply stating reality. The typical household in the USA has more than one car. So when you need to drive a longer distance than the EV will go you drive the other car.
No the limited range of an EV doesn't defeat the purpose. I bought my Spark EV to save money and for the convenience of owning a car that needs no maintenance and never needs to go to a gas station. It fulfills that purpose every day and as a surprise bonus the driving experience is better than any gas car I've owned.
