I sold auto parts for about fifteen years. Tapered roller bearings, good grease, and double lip seals work great. Grade 5 bolts (three marks on the head) were good enough for most things. Grade 8 (six marks) are high strength alloy steel. Metric bolts seem to come in a similar high strength spec.
