I do this too, I have silver sark curtains on my rear side windows, behind extremely dark (factory) tint on my Jeep.

Can't legally do it on the rear window though so I think the gains are fairly small, and only when the sun is at a low angle.

On the Prius I've got a window shade laying flat on the cargo blind. With a big near horizontal rear window that should make a fair bit of difference.
