Not so much fenders as mud-guards. Conforms to my theory that the outside half of pontoon fenders are unnecessary:

An aerocap? Not an unknown style in the 30s (1933 Pierce-Arrow Silver Arrow). It seems like votexes rotating off the fastback roof would die against the sidewall of the cap?
