How do you guys feel about controlled burns? It seems like Arizona and other states have forest fires every year. Different tribes and departments like to set controlled burns, attempting to prevent forest fires.

Of course, some get out of control, and then they are just forest fires.

Environmentalists oppose burning trees.

Dad used to push to chip the wood and sell it, but a woman I know says the real problem is the buildup of pine needles. After eight or ten years there are so many dried pine needles that any spark can start a fire.

Send a caravan of street sweepers through the forest and then compost the pine needles?
