There was also a slant Super 6 with a 2-bbl carb and a freer-flowing exhaust manifold than stock. For the Feather Duster they used a 1-bbl carb and the Super 6 exhaust manifold.
I agree that 36 mpg would have been quite a stretch even with the manual w/OD .
