It may cause the center of the tire to wear a little faster than the edges, but the difference isn't huge. I keep mine averaged between the manufacturer's recommended (32 psi) and sidewall maximum (51 psi) as a compromise.

It stays pretty warm here also, so the need for that isn't much. I tried blocking my upper grille, but didn't like the temps I was seeing in summer. I may try it again in winter.
