Fittipaldi Bros. twin-engined Beetle? That's quite cool. But I'd rather mess with an aircraft engine with fewer cylinders instead of trying to build a Beetle-based flat-8. BTW when I looked at a 4-cyl Lycoming engine for the first time, and realized it looked basically like an oversized Beetle engine (to which I was familiarized literally since I was 2 to 3y.o.), it has led me to wonder how it would fare as a replacement for a small-block V8 such as Ford's Windsor 302 or Chrysler's LA 318.
