I can't remember when Suzuki cars started to be offered in Brazil, but the Samurai soldiered on until '98 when the current generation of the Jimny was released. But anyway, back here it had always been available as a 4-seater, while in the U.S. and Canada it had been restricted to 2-seater (but I don't know when it started) due to NHTSA crash standards.
