Toyota 86 aerodynamics

This afternoon as I was researching the Toyota 86--from time to time I think, "Oh, maybe I should sell the Prius" (don't worry, I'm not selling the Prius)--I came across some information that I thought was interesting.

According to the brochure for the 2018 86, the GT trim comes with a spoiler and "underbody aerodynamic panel" that the base car lacks. As near as I can tell, the "underbody aerodynamic panel" refers to these:



As opposed to the base car:



The spoiler looks like this:



And is not the same as the Toyota accessory spoiler:



Which is a dealer-installed option.

Now the fun part: the e-brochure reports the base 86 at Cd .29 and the GT at Cd .27--a 20 count difference for those panels and spoiler versus the bare car.

And, for funsies, notice that nice cutoff line in the rear bumper cover. Here's a visualization of what the airflow does there:



That does look like fun. Maybe I should sell the Prius.
