Even here in northern Nevada (which is much different from southern Nevada/Las Vegas), I don't use A/C in the house. Good insulation means I can open the windows at night when it's cool, shut them in the daytime, and the house stays comfortable all day. (Barring a few +100 degree heat wave days, and even then it's 5 PM or so before it gets above say 75 inside.)
