The last time I maxed the fuel savings was back when diesel was above $4/gallon. The truck took 25 gallons, which was the limit for fuel savings, and cost exactly $100 after discount. Very depressing to have "saved" so much, having spent $100 to get 70% of a tank of fuel.
Around the same time I also put $20 of fuel into the truck, and it didn't even turn the low fuel light off.
