The existing tank is likely very oddly shaped and takes advantage of lots of available space.
Have you seen the stock tank?
Fuel cells come in 2 common shapes, cube and rectangular prisem in all different sizes and then custom for the most common race car converts, where the manufacturer just copies the stock design of the original tank.
I don't see it being possible to get a gas tank for a modern car that holds 5 or 10 more gallons.
