These cars were homologated for NASCAR competition,to compete with the Ford Thunderbird.The rear helped but the nose actually compromised race handling.
Going from the more traditional,formal,notchback,to the AeroCoupe profile shaved 10-counts off the Cd and improved effectiveness of the rear spoiler.
