WDB, I don't know where on the perimeter you and your neighbor lady live, but, she might could use some assistance concerning the battery. If you decide to offer a little assistance, you/her could purchase a decent used one and sell the one she has for home battery use. It still has value for that and would recoup maybe half of the cost of a better one. Some Salvage yards provide the year and odometer readings. Try to find one that offers the info and get it in writing, so when it is installed, you can get a direct reading from the car.
Changing them out may be more than you want to offer, but, it sure is a shame for her to not have a decently functioning car. IF you are not familiar, go to car-part.com and do a search for whatever year below 2016 Leaf and get an idea what one would cost.
