I would say yes, most people I talk to don't even consider the $ impact of their 15mpg pickup but raise hell and complain when they have unexpected expenses.

I have acquaintance with a man who drives a dodge charger srt8 roughly 35,000 miles per year back and forth to work. Probably has no clue he is spending $500/month in fuel.
