If you get to the point where you are going crazy and can't find the answer check the transmission(drive shaft?) speed sensor(assuming that vehicle has one). My ex had that as a problem on a Toyota with similar symptoms once. Four mechanics couldn't figure it out. I found the solution online in about ten minutes.
