Something you may want to consider as an option... put the front end of the Prius under the REAR of the Ghia and keep the forward floorpan and front suspension in place. This would create a mid-engine car whose handling should be good.

I remember when Pontiac did this same thing to create the Fiero on the cheap. The power train and suspension in the rear of the Fiero was the same as the front drive power train used in the Sunbird/J200. GM just tied down the steering arms so that the rear wouldn't steer.
