I am not %100 sure if this will work, but let me try to “push” my idea to you.
Treat the AC load the same way as the hybrid cars treat the battery. What you would need to do is, activate the AC clutch only when you are applying brakes or trying to do engine braking. This way your AC has virtually no load on your engine when it is trying to do its work. Depending on your driving conditions, it could be advantageous to increase the amount of coolant in the AC loop.
