If you are starting with concentrated sunlight, you are happy with whatever electrical energy you can get out of it through the steam turbines. If you are starting with electricity from solar PV or wind to begin with that already underwent it's challenges to become electricity, and are trying to store some of it over night, 30% round trip efficiency into the salt and out through the steam turbines isn't very useful.
