Since I posted this I have sold the engine, alternator, and coil. The head I have left is the one wit the Singh grooves in it. It was completely reconditioned by a professional engine shop before it was modified. I believe they did a minimal surface cleanup to get it flat, full valve job (reused existing vales as there were no issues with them), and whatever else was needed.
