Can you preheat on grid power to improve range?

If you plan your trips carefully, you can set the car to finish charging just before you depart to give you the longest range and warmest battery.

I used to set my Prius to finish charging just prior to departing. It had the ability to either begin charging at a set time, or to set the end of charging time and it would adjust when it began based on the end time.

Using the HVAC heater will drastically reduce range. Seat/steering wheel heaters take hardly any power at all.
