If you use an industrial type adhesive, it's no different to what holds OEM badges and trim to your car, so it should last 10-20 years.

My 'sub roof' is held to my van roof with 3M industrial Velcro (it's not hook and loop, it's hook and hook and actually clicks together) for about a year and a half so far.
