Is that what those guys said? They're completely wrong if so.

The general population doesn't have EVs on their radar, and they aren't holding out for anything.

Probably less than 10% of people even know what MPG their cars roughly average. Not many more know how much they spend in fuel monthly.

Finally, people buying new cars can afford to buy fuel, practically regardless of the current price. By definition they are more wealthy since they can afford the huge financial hit buying new represents. The new cars are what become used cars later on, so us used buyers are at the mercy of the whims of the wealthy.
