In the medical field, the researchers also do similar things, always claims that found this or that, and the large majority of the suposed great findings ends in nothing. But the researchers are always publishing papers, and even some failures can help some future projects.
I don't think they need to shut-up, but need more careful, or the press needs to be better, since a lot the of problem it's the way press turn the articles, with sensationalism.
