I see now why hovercraft use the straight and backward curved for high pressure lift fans.
There are musty old books with pages of experimental results. Dust blowers have straight blades to best handle debris. I'll look it up if anyone is interested, but the old HVAC manuals recommended the less efficient forward-curved blades (IIRC) because they would still move air even if one's sums were wrong, or the contractor changed things, whereas the efficient fans were prone to stalling if overloaded.

I make my scroll housings using Coroplast, in much less time.
