I had a 2007 Dodge Caliber w/CVT. Altho there was a low mode, it didn't have "shift mode" which was always silly. The CVT was programmed to give best MPG at 2000rpms. Above 60MPH the CVT was at its maximum ability to shift "higher", so rpms increased above 60MPH. So I accelerated slowly, keeping rpms close to 2000 & tried to stay near 60MPH, unless traffic got stacked behind me. While most Caliber owners averaged 26-7MPG, I averaged 31MPG with E10 fuel, with a high of 35MPG. Using E0, I averaged 33MPG with a high of 37MPG.
