I've been playing some with the Panasonic's U-Vacua Vacuum Insulated Panels (VIPs).
R45 insulation in only 15mm thick.
R66 Insulation in only 24mm thick.

DigiKey is a distributor for Panasonic so you can get them from them.
Not all that expensive for the amount of insulation R value they offer.

With that much thermal insulation effect .. you could vastly reduce the amount of energy needed to keep them warm .. even in 0F outside temps.

What about PTC based heating element.
They self regulate around the temperature point.
Can design resistance around whatever voltage you want.
