I'm no Google jockey, but AFAIR, Homebuilt Aircraft once ran a long article about the wind tunnel results from a WW II fighter. They started with the basic shape but an ideal nose, and slowly added the hardware needed, starting with engine cooling, but also recording the radio antennas, mirror, gun ports, air scoops, etc. The drag doubled, but seeing what hurt was sometimes surprising.
