In my defense, I did not write (nor mean) heat trapped
by the atmosphere as a whole; rather, I implied by the CO2 content in the atmosphere.
As that doubled so did the part it was responsible for.
For other greenhouse gases the effect their part has will reflect the changes in their abundance. As after water vapor CO2 has the most effect it does have a significant effect.
Water vapor is governed by temperature, as that rises the air can contain more water and will reflect more heat, aggravating the situation.
We need to keep temperatures down. Maybe we should paint everything white.
